The Peoria Secular Humanist Society is based in Central Illinois. We are dedicated to the promotion of the philosophy that a belief in a supernatural deity is not necessary to live a moral and fulfilling life. We serve as an outreach organization to provide education and social support to members of the atheist, agnostic, and humanist communities, and any others who do not follow or subscribe to a traditional religion.

We are a social, educational, and outreach organization based in Peoria, Illinois, and serving Peoria and surrounding communities. Our statement of purpose is...

  • To promote the idea that a belief in any type of supernatural being is not necessary to live a moral, purposeful, and fulfilling life.
  • To advocate for the separation of church and state at local, state, national, and international levels.
  • To advocate for science, critical thinking, and rational thought.
  • To provide outreach, support, and community for local individuals without religious affiliation or those who may be questioning their current religious beliefs.
  • To provide a means for members to have intelligent discussions and seek out new knowledge.

We have regular meetings and special events, all of which are announced on our page at Meetup.com. At some meetings we have discussions involving current events or philosophical viewpoints, while other times we will kick back and watch a movie. Feel free to attend any of our meetings. We'd love to get to know you.

You can also find us on Facebook where we post links to current events and topics of interest to the atheist, secular, and agnostic community. We also have non-public page on Facebook where members can discuss meetings, events, and topical issues in a more comfortable and confidential setting.
